Melville Art Prize
My artwork Lost Lands was selected as the overall winner for the 2024 exhibition.
Lost Lands is a visual representation of the land being cleared for agricultural purposes and explores the effects of these colonial techniques on the natural environment. By appropriating natural forms in an attempt to highlight the beauty of the hidden and unassuming, and purposely making with slow, repetitive movements in a way that honours the time it takes the environment both recover and flourish. The organic flow of the natural flora is replaced by the lines from fencing, mapping and cropping.
