A Fremantle based Art Award for young artists, this annual exhibition has developed greatly over recent years. As one of the top Young Artist Awards in Western Australia, it is an award that has influenced my own art practice over the years.
"Functionless Vessels attempts to explore the unassuming honesty of the handmade, examining the stereotypes between Craft and Art in contemporary society. With particular focus on combining traditional craft techniques, these handmade explorations venture to blur the lines between the functionality of Crafted objects and the lack of function in Artworks. With a distinct interest in vessels as objects, I wish to experiment and re-create this functional object into something useless in its purpose and question its own definition as a hand crafted object."
